About 2502 (Hamilton) Squadron RAFAC

Who are we?

Sqn Crest

2502 squadron RAF Air cadets are the local air cadets squadron for the Hamilton and Thurnby area. We are located at Orchard Mead Academy, and accept cadets aged between Year 8 (12) and Year 12 (17). Cadets can continue after the age of 17 by becoming a Staff Cadet instructor. We are a disciplined uniformed organisation with close ties with the RAF. We wear the uniform and often represent the Royal Air Force in the local area. There is also a staff called Commissioned Officers and Non commissioned Officers. Also including the Civilian instructors. The Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) is made up of two sections. The Air Training Corps (ATC) and the Combined Cadet Force (RAF or CCF).

We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do.

  • The Air Training Corps - Is the RAF's cadet force divided into six regions, 36 wings and over 900 squadrons in the communities around the UK.
  • The CCF (RAF) - Is our section of the CCF (Combined cadet force) which is made up of cadets from all services, coming together in approximately 200 independent and state schools across the country.
